Have you heard of this unique Awaji Island experience that both children and adults can enjoy?
At Parchez House of Fragrance, you can try an authentic incense-making experience using one of Awaji Island’s local specialties.
This experience takes about one hour and is easy to enjoy whether you are joining alone, with friends, or with family.
You can choose your favorite scent from four different fragrances, knead the ingredients by hand, and use a machine to press and shape the incense.
The process is so engaging that you may find yourself completely absorbed in it.
As you experience the depth of fragrance and craftsmanship, you will feel almost as if you have become an incense artisan yourself.

The machine used for this experience is also very special.
It is a hand-operated machine created over about two years by students from Sumoto Industrial High School on Awaji Island. Its height can be adjusted, so even small children can enjoy the experience together.
You will make approximately 45 incense sticks and three cone-shaped pieces of incense.
They are placed in a special box, making them perfect as a keepsake or a gift.
It is also lovely to be able to enjoy the fragrance you made yourself once again after returning home.
The comments from participants are heartwarming as well.
Participants have shared comments such as, “I could do it even without much strength,” “It came out like Mont Blanc cream, which was fun,” and “I got so absorbed that I worked up a sweat.”
Some also said that the experience made them appreciate even more the incredible skill of artisans who beautifully finish incense using automated machines.
Touching the fragrance, working with your hands, shaping it, and taking it home.
This kind of experience is sure to make your time on Awaji Island even more special.
