Among its creations, the incense collection is based on the theme of “a journey around the world through fragrance,” expressing the designers’ hometowns, historic cities around the world, and memories of travel through scent.

Astier de Villatte incense is made by artisans in the Ei area of Awaji City using traditional techniques.
More than ten years ago, the brand’s two founders and incense artisans from Awaji Island had a fateful encounter at an exhibition in New York, which led to the beginning of their collaboration.
After many discussions and refinements, they created a truly special incense unlike any other.

At “ei-to,” a multi-purpose facility renovated from the former Awaji City Ei Elementary School, which closed in 2017, nine varieties of incense and four types of incense holders are available for purchase.
Visitors can also try the fragrances in person.
They make a wonderful treat for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone special.

The facility also includes a café and shop, and offers hands-on craft experiences, making “ei-to” a lovely place to stop by when visiting Awaji Island.
